It was through this song that God spoke to me and told me to go to Africa…when I was 19. At the time, I was a collegiate athlete (aka can’t leave campus for more than 1-2 weeks during the year) so I had no clue how I was going to be able to go. That, and I knew no one in Africa 😁
God always knows what He’s doing 😊 that year, I suffered a career ending injury, which at the time was devastating, but because of that, I was free to travel for a semester and remain on scholarship. Now, I just needed to meet someone in Africa…
I was taking an International Health Policy class at the time, and was totally intimidated by my professor…I NEVER would’ve approached her if I didn’t have to…well during the semester my grandfather passed away (again, devastating). The funeral was during the classes midterm and I had to meet with the prof to make it up. When I was meeting with her, she asked me what the heck I wanted to do with my life, since Sociology (my major) would never get me a job 😂 I told her I wanted to join the Peace Corps and go to Africa. Then, my super intimidating prof went to work to find me an internship in Kenya, AND gave me 18 hours of A+ credit towards my major.
Living in Africa changed me forever…it’s hard to describe if you’ve never been there before. Since that first trip, I’ve been back to Africa 6 times, have visited 10 different countries, have led missions trip there, oh, and I met my hubby 😍😍😍
I know it’s not over…hubby and I are going to start a nonprofit for the babies there ❤ Thanks to Beachbody, I have the freedom to travel there whenever I want!
Sometimes God will put a dream in your heart, you’ve just gotta trust that He will work everything out for His glory ❤
