I’ve always been a big believer of writing down my goals and even visualizing them. I think the first time I heard about doing this was in high school. I played competitive volleyball (like crazy, hardcore, nearly military bootcamp style volleyball). My coach when I was 15 and 16 taught us to visualize our goals and even the game…to visualize making that kill, going up for the block, and winning. So when I was going through a tough workout I would visualize myself standing up on that podium and getting that gold medal for winning the Junior Olympics. And you know what? My senior year I did just that.
In college I wrote down the goals that I wanted to achieve…from as silly as taking salsa classes to hitting a certain GPA and getting my Masters degree. I even wrote down all of the characteristics that I wanted in my future hubby. When I met Alphonse (my husband) I knew from the second we met that we would get married–he had EVERYTHING that was on my list!!
When I started my Beachbody business, I learned how to take this a step further. I did Chalene Johnson’s 30 Day Push training (if you haven’t done this, DO IT. It will change your life!) and learned how to set very specific, measurable and time bound goals. Chalene had me write down my goals every single week, at least 10 of them…things that would be so crazy cool if they happened.
I started doing that…and in the beginning, I thought it would be so crazy cool to make $1,000/week as a coach. That was HUGE in my eyes. Well I made that happen. Then I thought it would be amazing to make $2,000/week as a coach. That’s 6 figures! I made that happen too. Now I’m setting some crazy, almost makes me wanna throw up goals. Like paying off our house in 3 years. OMG. I’ve even started looking at my dream house on Zillow and writing down what I want my dream house to be like. In detail. I want Moroccan style, high ceilings, big windows, a separate workout room, office AND baby play room (right now I’m writing this from our bedroom…which is also my office lol =)).
Have you written down goals that you have for yourself? I challenge you to start doing this. Start with 10 goals. Something that would be so flipping COOL if they happened. Write them down in the first person, and by the date that you want to accomplish them by. Your goals should be SMART goals. Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time based.
Here are some examples:
- I earn $2,000/week by June 2015.
- I am a stay at home mom by January 2015.
- I take a second honeymoon to Spain by February 2016.
- I am at my ideal goal weight of 160 pounds by March 2015.
If you start doing this, and then start working each and every day to make those goals a reality, I promise you they WILL happen. You’ll start amazing yourself by what you’ve accomplished, then you’ll have to set even bigger goals for yourself.
Dream, and dream big. God wants you to have an AMAZING life and He has BIG things in store for your future.
Blessings,
Rachel
