Want to get motivated to lose weight? I’ve got you covered =)
I gained 65 pounds during my pregnancy…oops! By focusing on my nutrition, and doing 30-minute workouts each day, I lost 65 pounds in 5 months, and another 15 pounds a few months later.
WHY do you want to lose weight? Why do you want to get healthy? Do you want more energy to keep up with your kids? Do you want to feel confident and comfortable in your skin? What is your reason for making the change? This is seriously KEY. It’s going to be hard. You’re going to struggle. You might want to give up. But if you know your reason for sticking with it and you are 100% committed to making the change for that why, then you’re going to stay strong when things get tough.
I suggest writing out your why, and sharing it with a close friend or family member. Ask them to join you and hold you accountable. Write that why out and post it somewhere where you can see it DAILY as a reminder.
Tip 2: Enlist a buddy!
See if you can get a friend to make healthier changes with you. Instead of meeting for coffee and a bagel, meet for a walk or a workout. Make fitness dates =) If you can’t find anyone, meetup.org is a great resource, and you can find lots of groups on there that are related to health and fitness!
Tip 3: Just do it.
For real. Motivation comes and goes, but discipline is what keeps you going. I wake up every morning at 6am, put on my gym shoes and workout (quietly) in my kitchen before TJ wakes up. I LOVE IT. This routine really has helped me stay active throughout the day, and gives me an extra energy boost. Try working out in the mornings, I promise you, after 1-2 weeks, it will become a habit and you’ll really look forward to that time instead of wishing you could stay in bed.
Tip 4: Join a support group.
I am starting a 21-day weight loss support group….you’ll have the tools, the accountability, and the motivation to help you get started, plus you’ll have my coaching and the ongoing support of the group to help you stick with your goals long term. You won’t have to do it alone =)
My days start at 5am and don’t stop till 9pm. I have a 1,2,3&4 year old. After running after them all day. My two dogs and cleaning the house I have no energy left for myself. It’s to the point I barely eat because I’m always busy doing something for someone else, and that I know is definitely not healthy. How to get motivation when there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in a day? I’m about 80lbs over weight after having 4 daughters in 3 years. Would love to lose it but can’t seem to get it started.
Start with your nutrition =) You can email me and I can help you get started on a super simple nutrition plan based on portion control that anyone can do =) clientcare@fitwithrachel.com
I’m having similar situation although no dogs and only 2 kids and seems never ending and no time for me. I keep on falling asleep whenever I sit. I hope you found your motivation. I always say i will do anything for my kids and I’m not able to stick to a healthy routine for them so I could feel better
As I just read I’m also having a mental block because I’m aware of all and feel no boost to start
Good luck and bravo for your daily efforts !! Eve
I am having a hard time getting started with this whole weight loss thing I’m about 50 lbs over weight. I am wanting to lose the weight So I can feel more comfortable in my own skin and to be able to keep up with my two kids ages 8 & 5. My day starts at 5 am and doesnt stop until 9pm. I work 7am to 7 pm 4 days a week. So any advice will be So helpful. Thanks So much
I’m having 2 problems…getting out of bed early enough, and getting motivated to exercise. There’s just not enough hours in the day. I’m not depressed, but I feel a kind of discontent. I an 42 and have a 5& 1/2 yr old boy who never stops, I can’t keep up.
Two years ago, I went to my Dr. because I have zero energy, I eat healthy foods, had been going to the gym 5 days a week for two months and nothing was happening- NOTHING! I thought it might have been hypothyroidism, he said no and prescribed Phentermine, which caused me to lose 20 lbs. This was only a temporary fix because I have gained it all back. My clothes don’t fit, I feel disgusted and discouraged.
As I said, I eat healthy foods, lots of fruit & veggies, lean meats, I don’t like fried foods or chips. I rarely eat things like ice cream. It scares me to think of how overweight I’d be if I ate badly. I have tried many diets, followed them to a tee, and gained weight.
I feel like a pinterest workout collector, shape magazine collector, etc. I have great intentions, but no follow through.
I want to look, feel & be strong, sexy & confident. I want energy and to fit into my, or into smaller clothes. I don’t want cottage cheese legs and butt cheeks anymore, I don’t want to have to pull the waist of my pants up when I sit to try and hide a belly roll. I don’t want to look at pictures of myself and say “eww”. I want to look great in a bikini. I want energy & focus, and to not feel like an old, fat, lady.
I’m currently 16 years old and I weigh 180 pounds.. I’m very unconfident with how I look.. I recently lost 15 pounds from basketball in the winter for school. I was wondering how I could lose another 20 pounds to help me feel good about my body.. Any good smoothies or easy excercise in the morning? I get ready for school at 6 every morning../: just wish I could look and feel better bout myself..
start with your nutrition =) try to drink only water, no soda or juice or smoothies. and try to eat whole food–like chicken, salmon, eggs, oatmeal, lots of fruits and veggies. be sure to download my free ebook at flatbellysolutions.com =)

I am 35 and have 8 children 14, 11, 10, 9 , 7, 3, 1 ,& 9 weeks….I need advise on how to lose weight while nursing so I don’t lose production. I don’t a lot of junk food as we eat organic so everything we do make is homemade from scratch…and I need the motivation to workout because I am tired a lot…I weigh 167 and would like to lose at least 37 lbs.
I’m 31 and weigh 209lbs….I’ve lost about 20lbs between having a coach, Addipex, and herbal life! However, I have a SERIOUS addiction to food! The emotional side of eating is what is killing me, then I binge, and the lack of motivation kicks in after all of that! I have a membership at the gym but get so bored! I need someone in my face or some motivation/direction when I am there! There was a point when I was going to the gym 5x a week at 4-5am…but I can’t seem to get back there! Will the emotional eating ever go away! I’m a nurse of all things, you would THINK I would be more aware of what goes in my body, but there’s a serious mental block! HELP
Definitely get immersed in personal development. I recommend anything Tony Robbins, and also The Hunger Fix, Women, Food, and God, and Joyce Meyer has a great audio on weight loss psychology too. It’s not easy, but I know you can do it! Check out my youtube for a video I just did about vision cards–I also suggest creating those for your goal weight–if you have a pic of yourself at that weight put it on the card and visualize yourself there! YOU GOT THIS!
I see in one picture you have what looks like a scare . I had 3 c sections I’ve been working like crazy on getting my belly back to some what a normal .
I recently got separated i have two daughters ages 4 and 2, since my separation i have lost 20lbs but im stuck now and can’t seem to loose anymore weight.
Hi Rachel,
I’m a mother of a 5 year old, and just had another sweetie who just turned one month old. With this pregnancy I got HUGE! I was already about 15 lbs over my healthy, in shape weight when I got pregnant, and now, one most post partum, I have about 45 lbs to lose. I have never been this big in my life and have never had to really watch what I eat a lot…now that I am not as active as I once was, I am not sure how to do this at all!! Please help!
Hiiiii! I’m Rachel. I lost 80 pounds after I had my son and now help other moms get their bodies back! I'm obsessed with: adventure, champagne, chocolate, peanut butter, and yoga pants.
