“I cheated”
“I was bad”
“I should give up”
Does that sound familiar? So many people talk about their diet in terms of good or bad was bad because you had a slice of pizza, or a cookie, or whatever. Don’t worry about it! It’s not about being ‘good’ or ‘bad’. It’s about sticking with it 90% of the time.
You don’t have to be perfect.
I’ll say that again. YOU do NOT have to be perfect! Trying to be perfect is going to set yourself up for failure! You won’t be eating 100% perfectly every day for the rest of your life–so seriously–don’t stress about having a slice of cake one day. Just track it in myfitnesspal so you know if you’re in your target range, and try not to make a habit of it.
I honestly hate the word ‘diet’….but it’s so common in our society. I prefer the term lifestyle change. That’s what it is.
It is not some temporary fix.
You can’t eat super strict for 30 days, lose 10lbs and then you’re done and go back to your old habits. It doesn’t work like that! You’ll gain it right back–and sometimes even more–since you deprived yourself you’ll want all the junk you ‘forbid’ yourself from having.
Welcome to the land of moderation.
It’s good to have you here =) I believe that a small glass of wine and a piece of dark chocolate can make my night awesome. Sometimes I go overboard with the chocolate, so it’s not something I keep in the house on a regular basis…the wine…yes =)
Shaun T, the creator of Insanity has even said that every day he has some M&Ms to keep himself sane, and he loves them. He knows he’ll only have a few, and he’ll look forward to that. Nope, he didn’t break his ‘diet’…he didn’t cheat on anything. He still has a crazy 6 pack because he can eat in moderation.
So please, don’t be so hard on yourself. You’re not ‘bad’ for eating something unhealthy. You’re human, and it’s a part of your new moderation lifestyle =)
