
13 Ways to Lose 10 Pounds:
1. Drink water! Research shows that dieters who drink plenty of water lose more than than those who don’t. Aim for at LEAST 64 ounces/day. Drink a big cup first thing in the morning, then before each meal to prevent over eating.
2. Cut your portions. Divide your normal portion in half and save the rest for later. Obviously if you’re still super hungry, you need to eat more, but you might be surprised that you’re satisfied with less food.
3. Eat more meatless meals. In general, vegetarians weigh less than meat eaters. Start by eating one meatless meal per day—increase it to two if you want =) Bonus—meatless meals can be CHEAP!
4. Eat fresh food! Get rid of the pre packaged junk food and only eat fresh food. No bags, boxes, cartons, or cans.
5. Cut out SUGAR. But beware of ways that sugar can sneak into your food—like pasta sauce, ketchup, frozen entrees and more!
6. Cut out flour. You don’t have to live without it forever—but cutting back on floury foods like white bread, pasta, and pastries can help you shed pounds fast—giving you a confidence boost and help you to keep going!
7. Cut back on alcohol. I know, and I’m sorry lol. But alcoholic beverages contain empty calories. If you are used to having wine with dinner every night, cut back to just two nights/week. Drink water instead, and watch the weight come off!
8. Sleep your way slim! Research shows that people who don’t get enough sleep eat more and grab for fattening food than those who get plenty of shut eye. I know this is hard if you have kids, try to nap when they nap!
9. Eat at home! Meals eaten in restaurants have 134 more calories, on average.
10. Keep a food journal. Tracking your food can help you discover any snacking patterns that you can easily break. You can download my free food journal here.
11. Make half of your plate VEGGIES! Eat the veggies first. You’ll fill up on high volume, low calorie food before you eat your starch and meat, leading to eating LESS food overall.
12. Go for a 30 minute walk each day. Walking is GREAT exercise—put on some music and get moving!
13. Join a support group! Studies show that people who have support are much more likely to stick with their weight loss goals than those who don’t. If you need a support group, I run one every month. Apply for a spot here.
Follow these 13 ways to lose weight and you can lose 10 pounds this month! I don’t recommend losing weight faster than that—losing 1-2 pounds a week is a great, steady rate of weight loss =)
