Have you ever gone on a diet? Did you lose weight? Did you go OFF the diet and gain it back?

Diets don’t work. They don’t. They are a temporary fix. They make you give up all of your favorite foods and deprive yourself, and then when the cheesecake is SCREAMING at you and you give in, you think you’ve failed and might as well give up and eat the cookie too.

Does that sound familiar?

With my weight loss group this month, I’m really encouraging everyone to enjoy their food. Nothing is off limits.

Wait…you mean that I can have butter? Yup, you can have butter. And wine. And chocolate. The only catch is that you must sit down to your meal without distractions and enjoy every single bite. If 3 bites is all it takes to satisfy that craving, then stop at 3 bites.

Does this sound like a ‘diet’ that you can do? Something that you can stick with long term? Once you actually focus on your food and taste it–sitting down to the table and enjoying it instead of scarfing down a bag of potato chips while watching Grey’s Anatomy–you’ll be satisfied with LESS and you’ll be less likely to overeat.

My challenge to you: eat what you truly want. Taste it, enjoy it, and stop when you’re satisfied.
