Today I want to talk to you about your nutrition. I have so many people who tell me they are having a hard time losing weight and they are working out everyday. Or they don’t have time to workout and that’s why they aren’t losing weight.
Let me tell you something: weight loss is 80% (maybe even 90!) nutrition. Let that soak in. If you aren’t at your ideal weight right now, it’s primarily because of what you are putting in your mouth!
Nutrition is KEY to losing weight, and keeping it off. I’m often asked what I eat on a daily basis…so here is a breakdown of what my daily diet looks like right now (I say right now, because I get on kicks where I want oatmeal for breakfast every day lol.)
Here is my daily diet so you can get an idea of what to eat for weight loss =)
Breakfast: Turkey or chicken sausage (I like applegate farms brand best) with an avocado (yes, usually I eat either half or an entire avocado, depending on how big it is. My breakfast is about 400-500 calories (I don’t really count, but I figure I’ll give you a ballpark so you can get an idea of how much I eat. That doesn’t mean it should be how much YOU eat (we all have different caloric needs, you can read more about that here)
Lunch: Shakeology with almond butter and sometimes an apple (I have Shakeology EVERY single day. It’s a non negotiable part of my daily diet, I’ve been sick once in 3 years since I’ve been drinking it and it’s helped me lose 80 pounds, in addition to being a super fast and convenient lunch). This is about 300-400 calories calories.
Snack: Usually I’ll have another shakeology, a protein shake, or a piece of fruit and some nuts. Just depends on what I’m in the mood for =) Snack is about 300 calories.
Dinner: My monster salad! Roasted veggies, lots of leafy greens, more avocado, flax or walnut oil (olive oil is fine but I’m sensitive to olives), and lean protein like turkey breast or chicken breast. This is about 400-500 calories.
Snack: I’m usually hungry again before bed…and I love something sweet at night =) This might sound weird but I swear it’s good! I mix raw cacao powder with protein powder, some stevia, almond milk, and maybe a little nut butter and banana. It’s like eating brownie batter (just don’t add too much almond milk…it should be THICK!) Another thing I really love to have is my single serving brownie….OMG it’s amazing. This is about 300 calories (400 if I add a banana).
Sometimes I’ll have a glass (or two) of wine or a healthy cocktail too =)
So as you can see, I EAT! Starvation diets are not only dangerous, but they’ll actually sabotage your weight loss efforts. Your body will hold onto anything you give it and you won’t lose weight.
Do you have to eat exactly what I eat? NO! Eat what you like…but I want you to see that I avoid processed foods, I eat lean protein at every meal, and I’m not afraid to eat healthy fats!
Does this help? I hope you can see how important the food you put into your body is–you put garbage in, you’re going to feel like garbage. It’s pretty simple =)
