Holy moly, so this is me being VERY vulnerable, and sharing a big part of my fitness/nutrition story.

I played competitive volleyball for 10 years, and in high school I was put on a very restrictive diet. I was only allowed a protein shake for dinner and was publicly called out for being ‘fat’.

I learned that my value was in my size, and that certain foods are GOOD, and others are BAD.

I became OBSESSED with nutrition—and eating healthy. If a food wasn’t healthy, I wouldn’t eat it.

I remember yelling at my dad for making whole wheat pancakes—because he used the entire egg and not just egg whites. What, was he trying to make me fat?

I do NOT want to blame my coaches for what I’ve gone through mentally with my nutrition—because ultimately it WORKED, I had a 6 pack my senior year and was a true athlete!

BUT it really did stick with me for a long time—and to this day I have a hard time mentally sticking with a  nutrition ‘plan’.

So that brings me to Whole 30. I am NOT bashing Whole 30 at ALL—I think it’s a FABULOUS program that has helped thousands of people! I eat mostly Whole 30!

But for me—when I’m told that I need to cut out certain foods OR I can’t eat a snack when I’m hungry—it really messes with my head and I KNOW that for ME it’s not healthy.

I love what I do as a coach because I found something that WORKS for me, that fits my lifestyle, and that I’m passionate about sharing with others. It doesn’t make me feel deprived and it doesn’t bring back any of those old feelings.

So there you go. I’m a Whole 30 failure lol—but honestly, I consider it a WIN—because I was able to PAY ATTENTION to my body, my mindset, and understand that it just wasn’t right for me.

Did this help you? If so, I would really appreciate it if you comment below and share on Facebook!
