I’m all about simplifying weight loss. The easier the better I say =) Throughout my years of studying health and fitness I’ve come across a couple of tools that make getting healthy simple. Here are my recommended tools to help you lose weight.

1. Body Bug. I love this little gadget. You wear it on your arm and it will calculate your calorie burn throughout the day. You just have to input your height, weight, gender, and goals, and it will tell you exactly how many calories you burn–to the minute! It was so cool to see that during P90X plyometrics I was burning 10+ calories/minute. It was a great motivator for me to keep moving! Another great thing about the body bug is that it even tells you how you’re sleeping at night. Sleep–and sleep quality is important for maintaining a healthy weight. After seeing how much sleep you’re REALLY getting, you’ll be motivated to hit the hay earlier.

2. Pedometer. Don’t want to invest in a body bug? No worries…a pedometer can motivate you too! These are super cheap and can be found at Walmart…or pretty much any athletic store. Make it your goal to walk 10,000 steps a day. Then try and beat your personal best!

3. Online Food Journals. myfitnesspal.com is becoming my all time favorite website. Why? Because you can input how many calories you eat on a daily basis and your exercise for the day, and it will let you know if you’re overdoing it. I think my FAVORITE thing about it, however, is that you can add friends to your profile, so they will see what you’re eating and how your weight loss journey is going. THAT is motivation for me!! I don’t want everyone to see that I had three pieces of cake last night (I didn’t, I swear!!) =)

4. Challenge Groups. This isn’t a gadget, but it’s a tool that I use with my clients to help them achieve success. One of the big things that people need when they’re trying to lose weight is motivation and accountability. By participating in a challenge group, they get that, plus exclusive support from ME! If you are ready to take your weight loss to the next level, you can apply to be in my next challenge group HERE.
