It’s margarita day…yay! Since I’m 28 weeks pregnant I will not be celebrating this glorious holiday…but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a drink for me, right? Did you know the average margarita has 500 calories or MORE?? That is INSANE! Try out this lighter version to get your fix.

Ingredients
- Lime wedges
- Kosher salt for the glasses’ rims
- 1/2 cup juice from Mexican limóns or fresh limes
- 1/4 cup tequila
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Cointreau (orange-flavored liqueur)
- 2 1/2-3 tablespoons superfine sugar (can substitute stevia or another sweetener of choice)
- 12 ice cubes–I would probably ditch the ice cubes and use frozen strawberries for a strawberry margarita…but that’s totally your call!
Preparation
1. Run a lime wedge around the edge of each glass. Then dip rims into a saucer filled with the salt. Don’t skip this step. It makes the drink fancy =)
2. Put the remaining ingredients into a blender; blend until the ice cubes (or frozen strawberries) are chipped and the mixture becomes frothy. Pour the mixture into the prepared glasses; garnish with lime.
