The Holidays are often associated with food….lots and lots of yummy food….most of which is not healthy. Add that to a few too many cocktails, lots of stress, not enough time for workouts, less sleep, etc., etc., etc…..it’s no wonder the average person puts on 3-5 pounds during the Holidays! That wouldn’t be such a big deal if most of us lost that weight right away, however, that weight oftentimes sticks on us, year after year piling up.

NOT THIS YEAR!

Here are my top 5 tips for detoxing after the Holidays (I know it’s not there quite yet–but I want you to be prepared!!)

1. Hydrate! Your body is in desperate need of some good H2O. Drink up. Make sure you carry a water bottle with you! Aim to get a minimum of 64 ounces a day-more if you’re breast feeding!

2. Sleep! I know this isn’t always easy with kids, but try your best to get some sleep. Turn off the TV, put your phone away, get off of Facebook.

3. Exercise! You need to get that body moving ASAP. Go for a walk after dinner. Wake up early and lift some weights. Do SOMETHING that gets the blood flowing!

4. GET THE JUNK OUT OF THE HOUSE! It’s too tempting if it’s sitting right in front of you all the time. I’m serious. Get rid of it! Your body doesn’t need any more sugar right now.

5. Clean up your diet! No more sweets. No more processed foods. If you want to feel better NOW, it’s time to get your diet under control. And it starts today! Try to get as many fresh fruits and veggies as possible-the more the better. Avoid starchy foods like white pasta, white rice, white bread, and try to keep your diet as natural as possible.
