I’ve had a lot of people tell me that they’re worried about gaining weight over the holidays. Understandably so-there’s a lot more temptation this time of year! How can you AVOID the holiday weight gain (on average 3-5 pounds!) and still enjoy yourself? Read on for my Ten Healthy Holiday Strategies. 

 

1. Don’t starve yourself all day. Eat a sensible breakfast and light lunch. 

2. Drink lots of water! 

3. Pick your favorites. If you don’t love stuffing, skip it! 

4. Listen to your body–when you’re full, stop eating. No one likes a food hangover. 

5. If you can’t be trusted with pie or cookies in your house, get rid of them! Send them home with a guest. You don’t need extra temptation around! 

6. Keep moving! Try to get a quick workout done in the morning.

7. Don’t linger around the table. Get your food and get out of there!

8. For every cocktail or glass of wine you have, alternate it with a glass of water.  

9. Make sure to get some veggies and lean protein in your meal to fill you up. 

10. Enjoy the time with your family!
